SALT LAKE CITY – From September 8 to 17, 2022, Governor Spencer J. Cox embarked on a strategic trade mission to Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), solidifying Utah’s commitment to seize emerging economic opportunities in the wake of the historic 2020 Abraham Accords. These accords have opened up new avenues for diplomatic and trade relations in the Middle East and North Africa. Governor Cox’s leadership aims to enhance partnerships, create vital connections, and explore avenues for growth for Utah businesses.
The Abraham Accords, signed in September 2020, heralded a new era of cooperation between Israel, the UAE, and other nations in the region. These agreements have paved the way for unprecedented economic possibilities. Israel and the UAE are now key trading partners for the United States, with the UAE being the primary export market for the Middle East and Africa and Israel maintaining robust trade relations.
Utah’s thriving business environment, recognized by prestigious publications such as Forbes, is a testament to its commitment to growth and innovation. Renowned companies like Procter & Gamble, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, and eBay have already established roots in the state. With its business-friendly atmosphere and a highly-skilled workforce, Utah is primed to become a global business hub.
This trade mission follows Governor Cox’s successful business delegation to Mexico in April 2022, which included Vitalpax among others, and generated over $26.3 million in new trade opportunities for Utah companies.
As the Utah delegation embarked on this significant journey, intriguing parallels emerged between the dynamic landscapes of innovation, resource management, and faith-based practices shared by Utah, Israel, and the UAE. These commonalities underscored the potential for transformative collaboration and mutual growth.
Governor Cox’s leadership of this trade mission presents an unparalleled opportunity for Utah’s businesses to explore, engage, and evolve within the global marketplace. As Utah forges ahead into these lands of promise, the anticipation remains high for the bonds that will be formed, partnerships that will flourish, and the economic bridges that will connect continents.
